Before installation, you will need to have Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 or later installed. Client installations on Windows 98 and Me will require Installer version 2.0. Systems that do not have these prerequisites will either receive an error message that the installer is too old, or the .msi files will not be recognized at all.

Windows 2000 and XP users can also get the latest version of the installer from the Windows Update website.
